FWD: Max Weber

Saturday, March 23, 2013

This is Max Weber for Friends Who Draw (this month is philosophers) Max was the German father of modern sociology. He suffered from depression, anxiety, and insomnia, which kept him in sanatoriums for many years. Between his attendance of these asylums, he was a teacher most of his life- though he studied to be a lawyer. He wrote several books; The Religion of China, The Religion of India, Ancient Judaism, and several essays on religion. He intended to write additional books on Christianity and Islam, but contracted the Spanish Flu and died in Munich on June 14, 1920 (it was rough back then!!). I love his beard and his soft eyes. I feel like those who are philosophical, intellectual, or artistic geniuses tend to battle their mental demons.
